Quality Control (QC) Setups
This page includes general information about the various QC Setups.
QC Setup
Click the magnifying glass and in the search box, type in QC Setup.
Note
You may also select QC Setup Card and proceed directly to step 3
From the QC Setup list page. Click Manage, Edit to open QC Setup card.
Within the General FastTab, set Enabled to True to allow for the usage of QC functionality.
Note
In the card page, if a user toggles off the Enable box to disable the QC Module, all users must close their Business Central session for the action to take effect. There is a popup message reminding that all users must close and reopen for the action to take effect.

Document Approval FastTab

Auto-Approve on Entry Close | Toggle field to allow Auto-Approve on Entry Close functionality. The program requires a secondary approval of the QC Test Results by someone other than the person entering the test results. |
Lab Testing/Samples FastTab

Item Jnl. Template Name: Internal Samples | Identify the Item Journal Template that will be used specifically for Internal Samples. |
Item Jnl. Batch Name: | Identify the Item Journal Batch that will be used specifically for Internal Samples. |
Lab Purchase Billing Type | Default value is G/L Account. |
Lab Purchase Billing Code | G/L Account where lab transactions are posted. |
Sample Customer No. | Identifies the Customer No. for the Customer that will be used for posting sample shipments for QC testing. |
Samples Customer Name | The Customer Name for the Customer that will be used for posting sample shipments for QC testing. Defaulted once Sample Customer No. is filled in. See note on following page. |
Combine Samples on Sales Doc. | • Yes: The samples will be combined on one sales document. |
• No: The samples will not be combined on the sales document. | |
• Prompt: A popup will ask the user if they would like to combine the samples on the sales document. | |
NOTE: For combining samples on a sales document. If Yes is selected, the aggregate outstanding samples will be on one sales document. If Prompt is selected, the program will display a message if user would like to combine samples on a sales document. | |
Allow Clearing PO Links | Enables function on QC Documents to clear QC Document links to Purchase Invoices. |

Note
Within the Samples Customer Card, the Vendor associated with the invoicing of the samples must be in the Customer Ship-to Addresses as a QC Default for Lab Vendor for the samples to be invoiced. A demonstration for this can be found later in this section.
Numbering FastTab

Inheritance FastTab
FIELD NAME | FUNCTION |

Allow Same Source Item No. | Toggle field to allow the results from QC Tests to be inherited from the same Source Item Number of a consumed Lot/Serial Number to new output Lot/Serial Number. |
Same Item Auto-inheritance | If Checked all QC Testing is automatically inherited to the new Lot being Output for any Assembly, Production Order, or Item Reclass Journal where the same Item being Output was also the Item Consumed. If the inheritance should only be for specific Items rather than a global function, then the Allow Same Source Item No. option can be used instead. |
Skip New Testing if Inherited | Skips the automatic creations of a new QC Document for testing if the results that are being inherited are from an Item with the same QC Group. |

Batch Archiving FastTab

Default Batch Archive Date Calculation | Defines how to calculate the To Date Range by default on the Batch Archive QC Documents Report when the Archive QC Documents with no Inventory option is selected. |
Default Batch Archive Purge Calculation | Defines how to calculate the To Date Range by default on the Batch Archive QC Documents Report when the Purge Archived Documents and Results option is selected. |
Default Batch Lot Info. Purge Calculation | Defines how to calculate the To Date Range by default on the Batch Archive QC Documents Report when the Purge Lots with no Inventory or Active QC Documents option is selected. |

COA Reports FastTab
FIELD NAME | FUNCTION |

Code | Identifies the Code of the report. Text Field, up to 15 characters. |
Name | Description of the report input by user for easier identification from the default name. Text field, 20 characters. |
COA Report Selection | Report number drop down that corresponds to the Report ID and Report Name. |
Address/Phone Number | Address and Phone Number that will print on report. |
Report ID | This shows the number of the relevant source report. There are six default Certificate of Analysis report layouts. |
Report Name | Name of source report. Defaults once Report ID has been set. |

QC Setup Functions
On QC Setup there are several shortcuts to admin functions.

Batch Archive QC Documents | Allows users to archive multiple QC and QC Prod. Measure Documents based on a set of criteria. |
Batch Repair QC Links/Relationships | Batch process to link Lots on the Item Ledger to their QC Documents if they become un-synced. |
Batch Validate QC Groups/Items | Allows users to mass update QC Groups and Items with changes made to QC Tests. |
Batch Update QC Document Status | Batch process that is used to re-calculate the QC Document Status. An example for when this may be used is when approvals are turned on or off for QC Documents. |
Batch Create QC Documents | Allows users to mass create QC Documents based on a set of criteria. |

Re-insert ALL Setup | Inserts ALL the below default data. |
Re-insert Default QC Setup | Inserts specific default QC Setup table information |
Re-insert Default Captions | Resets the Captions in the Advanced Setup Captions table. |
Re-insert Default Event Triggers | Resets the Event Triggers in the Advanced Setup Event Triggers table. |
Re-insert Default Results | Inserts a standard Pass/Fail record into the QC Results table. |
Re-insert Default COA Report Setup | Resets the QC COA Reports Setup table. |
Re-insert Default RC Cue Styles | Resets QC Role Center Tiles back to their default colors. |
How To: Create a Lab Samples Customer
To create a new lab samples customer, click the magnifying glass, type Customers, and select the related option.
From the Customer List page, click New to enter a new Lab Samples Customer.
Fill in the Customer Card as you would when creating a new customer in standard Business Central. Upon completion of entering Lab Samples Customer information, close out of the newly created Lab Samples Customer Card.
From the Home screen, click the magnifying glass and type QC Setup Card and click the related option.
Within the QC Setup Card, locate the Lab Testing/Samples FastTab and within the Sample Customer No., enter in the newly created Lab Samples Customer number from the dropdown.
The Lab Samples Customer can now be associated with a Lab Samples Vendor.
How To: Associate a Lab Samples Vendor to a Lab Samples Customer
To associate the Lab Samples Customer with the Lab Samples Vendor for invoicing, click into the Sample Customer Name field.
Click Manage/Edit to edit the Lab Samples Customer Card.
Within the Home ribbon, click Navigate/Ship-to Addresses to add the vendor for invoicing of the samples.
Click New or Manage/Edit to enter the Lab Samples Vendor for invoicing of the samples.
Fill in the General FastTab as a normal Ship-to Address.
On the QC FastTab of the Ship to Address Card, click the dropdown in the QC Lab Vendor No. field to associate a vendor as the QC Lab Vendor for samples invoicing. Toggle on the QC Default for Lab Vendor field to default the vendor on associated QC Documents for external samples. The lab customer and its associated vendor are now set up for sampling.
